Introducing Music is Yours
Led by board-certified music therapist Melissa Waton-Cohen, Music is Yours provides personalized music therapy to support growth, self-expression, and connection

Meaningful Change Through Music
My name is Melissa Waton-Cohen, and I am a master's-level Board-Certified Music Therapist with teaching certifications in both Music and Special Education. I believe music is a powerful tool for motivating behavioral change. My expertise lies in creating structured music-based experiences tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Through carefully designed individual or group sessions, I support developmental progress in behavioral, educational, and musical areas. These sessions foster a sense of belonging, encourage positive peer interactions, and reinforce personal growth—all driven by the intrinsic motivation of music.
Unlock Growth Through Music Therapy
Group music therapy sessions provide a dynamic and engaging way to develop essential skills while fostering a sense of belonging. Each session is designed to support participants in areas such as:
Social skills
Verbal, non-verbal, and musical communication
Sharing and turn-taking

“It has been my pleasure to work with Melissa Waton-Cohen, a very active volunteer member of the committee, for many years. The mission of the LACD is to improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Melissa has done an outstanding job in that regard, having been the master of ceremonies at many of the large seasonal and holiday parties we have for the Essex County population that we serve. She adds lots of energy to those parties, as a music therapist, and is a very positive thinking person.”
— Bob Gebroe, Chairman of the Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD)
